Red Hat Acquires JBoss

Red Hat today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JBoss. By acquiring JBoss, Red Hat expects to increase its footprint in the application integration market. This deal is a heavy proof that the application server market is more and more commoditized. IBM will probably be able to handle that, but leading actors like BEA will have to move to be more than “the Rolls Royce of application servers”. In a time where ESB and BPM solutions are maybe not the next cash cows, BEA will have to move or die.  M&A ahead?
