Clam AntiVirus is an open source anti-virus toolkit for UNIX. The main purpose of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment scanning). The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a command line scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via Internet. The programs are based on a shared library distributed with the Clam AntiVirus package, which you can use with your own software. Most importantly, the virus database is kept up to date .

SquidClamAV Redirector is a Squid helper script which adds virus scanning for defined filename extensions. It has been tested with Python, pyclamav, ClamAV, and Squid. Squid has to be configured to use "redirect_program" and to either deny access to a URL defined in the SCAVR configuration or to redirect to a remote Site which displays an error (and some information). SCAVR handles the request as given from Squid, downloads the URL, and scans it for known viruses. It rewrites the URL from Squid to a blocked URL or an information page with information about the scanning results.
